The Animal Clinic of Granger has added Radiowave surgery for clients of the practice. According to Dr. Jennifer Perusek the new system has several advantages over traditional surgical methods including laser. "There is no risk of collateral damage through reflection or penetration of a light beam as is the case with laser or electrosurgery".
The high frequency and low temperature device has the potential to reduce post operative pain, decrease post surgical edema, and reduces blood loss during the operation. Dr. Perusek prefers radiosurgery over other methods for these reasons. "Patients tend to have less pain after the procedure because the radiosurgery unit seals nerve endings as it cuts. Additionally, because of the low temperature and high frequency radiowaves, there is less tissue destruction providing for a quicker recovery". |
